GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper, or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.1) Draw a rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing. 2) From the middle of the rectangle, draw one vertical and one horizontal line equally dividing the shape. 3) Draw another horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle. 4) Draw a vertical line equally dividing the left half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a vertical line equally dividing the right half of the rectangle.

STEP 1. Define the general shape and proportions of the orchid, paying attention to direction of the stem.
img
STEP 2. Draw the stem shape and middle parts of the flowers (columns).
img
STEP 3. Outline small petals around the columns.
img
STEP 4. Delineate the rear petals.
img
STEP 5. Draw lip petals that are the lowest ones in the flower.
img
STEP 6. Define places for the orchid sepals.
img
STEP 7. Add more lines to illustrate the stem and the flowers by adding the rest of the petals.
img
STEP 8. Finish with the orchid lips. Work on them, making them more detailed.

STEP 9. Contour the orchid, trying to vary the thickness and blackness of the line. Draw more details. Erase all guidelines.
